open after a few last errands such as bank account, complete insurance for your car, tax number to apply, etc., we are then down to 2 clock going. Of course on the way still held on a fishing shop to equip us for fly fishing. Contrary to expectations we have there not spent so much money (that is, at least in relation to our other fishing shops to visit from Sweden: -)
Once out of the city, we are amazed at all the not come out. While we have certainly not seen much, but what we saw was simply indescribable. It is a blend of tropical rain forest, lush green hills, in between but again conifers or palms. And all with the sea in the distance. When we reached after a 1.5 hour drive Goat Iceland, we had the feeling of being truly arrived at the end of the world in paradise. We both have simply started to laugh because it was so incredibly beautiful. Time seems to matter more simply. After looking at the paradise in the immediate vicinity had looked more closely, we are back to Stephen, our previously loyal companion run. A few meters inland, we found at the end of a beautiful corner of the avenue a camp could not have been nicer. "Feel free to stay where ever you want" said the owner us after we leuteten to a bell that hung at the "reception". he came across valuables security gelatscht from his small house adjoining. All of course with the rest! After a shower we have the evening with a few people, mostly New Zealanders, some Americans spent around the campfire with a beer. Unfortunately it rained the next day so we decide to move on after breakfast to the north. In the southern hemisphere so it is warmer to the north. That reminds me, the first time in the sun was lying there quite funny that the shadow suddenly comes from the other side. That is, the sun is here but also from east to west but not south, but on the north. ergo: it moves from right to left. Was not clear to me to be honest, but it makes sense, yes.
Fortunately for us the weather was better during the trip and we found a parking space in Mangawhai Heads by the sea where we stayed then 2 days. In the gorgeous bay stood a rocky chain to fish a very good opportunity arose. The Life Guard of the bay we explained the ebb and flow times, and then it went on the rocks fishing. Beer here and the evening was perfect. We fished until the sunset and a rain shower came on the horizon, even a rainbow. The feeling of standing at the end of the world in a beautiful bay with a beautiful sunset, and really nothing to hear except the sound of the sea is unfortunately beyond description. I do not know when the last time we looked at the clock. They simply play no role. Back at Stephen, we meet a German couple traveling with a campervan in New Zealand and discovered the same parking lot. We drink a combination and then go to bed. The next morning is amazing. We are growing and even though we know where we are, we do not believe our eyes. Lying, we look exactly on the ocean. The sun has just risen and the prospect of us brings a smile to the face. I can not recall ever at this time, it is 7 clock to have had such a good mood J. A woman with her dog in the waves and start your Sunday with a swim. Slowly the place filled with locals to take advantage of the free morning to walk with your dog to surf or just to swim. Everyone knows everyone, people are all incredibly good mood. We are preparing for another fishing day and take our snorkeling equipment. Unfortunately we only caught a few smaller items which our good mood but does not detract. My hook is about 20 meters from the rocks laid away. Alex, utterly fearless as he is professionally equipped jumps into the water to rescue him, using a short cold-panic-attack environment, the opportunity for great fishing, and exploring potential dinner. Besides a variety of rays and shoals of small, colorful Fischeist unfortunately found nothing. I scour the other side of the rock also, but I will not answer and we cancel the trip.
To grab a bit of movement I have my running shoes and walk along the beach. after about 15 minutes I arrive at a cliff with the exception of a few stones inside is made of shells. The largest and most beautiful shells that you can imagine, and not one, but many. Unfortunately, I have no camera with me, but we're still a while on the go. after a shower at the beach shower, this could become standard, we have said goodbye to the beautiful bay again and drove further north. Whangarei, the last "town" at Cape Reinga, the northernmost point of New Zealand, did not please us. It was Sunday, and accordingly had died out of the city. We bought the most necessary one (yes, the big supermarkets are open on Sundays here) and drove on. just before dark we arrived at a campsite, located on a promontory called Whangaruru North. no barrier, no reception. A very quiet bay where one of the rumble of the surf heard outside. There were hardly any campers on the course which consisted only of grass. We parked our Stephan about 3 feet from the water and prepared the dinner: filet steak and salad. 400g fillet steak here costs about 6 €. Juhu! Delicious wars. Although everything was really perfect anything wrong. We use the sanitary facilities still fresh to us and make us decide to find a free place to sleep. Since we started this that we would have to pay the next morning. The fact that the place had something uncanny speed up our decision and we were on our way. Shortly before Russell flashed the warning light. Since the fuel gauge not working properly, it is the only thing we have. It was pitch dark and we needed a place to sleep. An emergency stop bay in the woods seemed it exactly right. The night had many mosquitoes and a 10 cm wide, green, stick-like animal disturbed next to my head. Of course, we have discarded the thanks to excellent teamwork and courage soon. The next morning we discovered that the forest was pronounced only on our left, right, we had again a clear view of the sea. Just great. after a quick breakfast we went even further to Russel. Unfortunately, it rained again. Russel is a very quaint town and the origin of the English colonization in New Zealand. From a service station operator, we learned that is on the other side of the bay, the place Paihia. There probably stitched the bear. The next ferry we crossed. The village, which, as Russell also is known far in the Bay of Islands' was very nice and actually very touristy. Hostels and bars dominate the cityscape, but that does not mean it still is not very nice here. We check the site to sleep. Once we have identified a parking space in the center of the 8 $ / 24h costs, we return to the water for something to eat. We get to know the four German girls are also in transit. They share a campervan to 4, undglaublich but apparently works. We recommend the above found parking and begin our search for a shower facility. Camping sites to respond to our question rather soggy after a shower for which we would also be willing to pay. Apparently they hear often. In a hostel (Hostel) is recommended to us, sometimes to ask the sailing club. These are a dime a dozen here, and we tried our luck. Just arrived in front of the clubhouse Alex rises at the very moment when a sailor from the shower device and leaves him for the better on this also holds the door. It will be showered thoroughly, and especially enjoyed. When you spend the whole time on the road and washes on the beach showers, a hot shower with decent water pressure in a neat device really be a pleasure. Freshly showered, we Stephanie park on the aforementioned parking lot and make us to the vibrant nightlife of Paihia. We know a lot of people, because really all are incredibly open and outgoing. Besides a couple of French and New Zealanders, we learned of course also know German. Two girls from London, a fantastic accent, offered us the next day at her shower. A few beers later and then suddenly two beds were in your hostel room free. Based on some circumstances, we politely declined, which they did not understand apparently. Fortunately, the four girls came from the afternoon and we turned away. After a fun evening continues, the beer cost in the 0.5 liter glass 4 $ = € 2, we started with the four on the way to our campers parked next to each other now. Between the cars, we started a fierce midnight snack with chilli con carne, cheese, bread and everything our refrigerator or were delivered. When suddenly the police appeared and slowly across the parking lot of us came to know, no one should follow what. "We have seen the lights from the cars (this must be traded to Alexander's droll head lamp) have, and wanted to see for sure everything ok it. But it looks so like this as if you had a lovely dinner there! Have fun! "Whether that would have said Than police in Germany just as nice? doubtful! With full stomachs we went to bed. The next day was spent fishing on the rocks at the edge of the village. Unfortunately without success. But at least we got a sunburn. And lots of it. Since the weather was and we both already had sunburn, we choose the mandatory sailing trip through the Bay of Islands first move and go north to the Cape Reinga. We just sit in the car, Alexander running through picturesque landscapes and I write. We come to the last station of the North, it is about 50 km to the Cape, and we are filling up again on better.

Cape Reinga

the northernmost point of New Zealand is simply indescribable. When you stand up there can be Just the landscape and contribute mainly to the noises themselves. Although the photos can not convey what is in the approach up there feels that they can see you to contact us.
On the west coast south of Cape Reinga is the ninety mile beach. This beach is actually about 100 km long and you can drive at low tide with a four-wheel drive along. Insurance protection you have there not to be expected, however, and you should see that you're through before the flood. For there are few opportunities to leave the beach because on the one side of the ocean, and the other side of the Great sand dunes will be blocked. As the access road and we ended up right on a sand board hire inquired as men because of the great sand dune on the beach now ninetz mile comes, "said the friendly man with a broad grin:" put in your 4-wheel drive and pass the stream arround the dunes hoot before you pass the first corner, and do not stop! " :) Done
said .. The nurnoch by the tide about 10 to 20 cm deep creek was completed after about 3 minutes and we reached the beach. Because the sand was very hard, it was undisturbed from now on and completely alone 100 km along the beach .. outstanding experience. But the highlight should follow.

At end of the beach we were back on paved roads and of course stayed in the soft sand stecken.Ein couple from Switzerland, tried to help us move with Stephanie but got stuck hopeless! some Maori drove past us and took no notice of us, apparently not an unusual sight for the guys up here.
What we know since then, our 4Wheel-Drive is unfortunately nurnoch a 2-wheel drive .. namely, the two front wheels have no institution at all made to participate in the rescue operation. Luckily hit a New Zealander came with your Toyota and pulled us out of the sand .. as well as all its 4 wheels went crazy and does not change in our position, I had recently he afraid it would not create, but when I saw that he used to drink the right arm out the window leaning on the beer I knew everything easy. and so it was! minutes we were free after 1 to 2. He then invited us to a beer on his patio with him and drink we accepted with thanks. no chance of him the beer, which was cooled under hervorragned cheer .. He insisted on the right host.

Marty, a 42 year old father had his property on the beach .. no fence or boundary to the beach. Unbelievable. When passing by 2 quads on the beach I asked him whether something can borrow here .. his answer: you guys ride? I explained to him that I own a KTM in Germany and when I wanted to just explain that this is austria a small motocross smithy, he beamed and have dragged us into his garage. The first thing we laughed at was a yellow beach buggy ... and behind it, so honestly stood behind two almost-full-new KTM motocross machines! We have the grin not get out of his face! Although we knew him just 10 minutes, he asked whether we want to make a trip with him .. what for a question .. He has equipped us with motocross boots and loaded his beach buggy with beer:) .. angekickt the carts and are located all and leave. What followed was madness .. the bikes were so incredibly fit and we had a huge playground in front of us .. Beach, dunes, cliffs, meadows, hills and forest .. everything your heart desires. After 3 hours we came back to the house where his wife joined us as warmly as Marty himself endgegen you supplied us with beer and fried egg on toast. After a labored evening on the terrace by the sea, we went to bed. Unfortunately, the two had the next morning work and we drove on. Of course, Marty and has even given some tips how we can sweeten our time down here a little, and in gratitude for all that you have to say that there is no expected return, we still secretly placed a case of beer in front of their house and a letters left.

Today we have made in the Bay of Islands a sailing trip. The scenery is around here (or boat ride in general) as made for sailing. As the name suggests, everywhere small islands with small sandy bays. At one of these bays (which also has a wonderful vantage point), we made lunch and were snorkeling.
Everything just incredible beautiful impressions. Sorry, we do not have to face Dolphins , But given that we have made soweiso for the South Island.

We hope you are all doing as much as we ;-)
